I ve been working on a personal project on ASP.NET MVC 3 and i decided to use the popular Twitter Bootstrap toolkit (TBT)and is just amazing.

What is the “Twitter Bootstrap Toolkit”?

940 px Grid System + enhanced CSS styles + custom HTML

The Twitter Bootstrap toolkit is a Grid System composed of span tags , wich i find very helpfull to work with , normally you needed to think on build your web template by yourself from zero, resulting on thinking the div structure from scratch and confront the div aligning problems and/or positioning nightmare.

Now you can use the 940px grid system to just specify how you want your html layout , for example:

The mighty 940px Grid System

With this grid system composed of html span tags you can use a layout that is more suitable to your designs, for example if i wish my web page to have a div configuration like this:

you have to look at the span configuration that ressemble the most on the image above. In this case is the span configuration enclosed on the red square(on the image above) this refers to the span5 and the span11 group.In HTML code this looks like :

<div class="row" title="example">
    <div class="span5">something</div>
    <div class="span11">something</div>
  </div>

Enhanced CSS styles

With the TBT you have a nice looking website right at the start of the development because it integrates some enhanced css styles. For example you can use the button tag along with a css class to display a nice looking button

<button class=”btn success”>Success</button>

if you want to use that 2.0 tag looking labels you need to use just this snippet of code

<span class label success>New</span>

and it will render into this cool tag

this is just a minimal thing that you can do with the toolkit.

You can see more of the Twitter Bootstrap Toolkit here

If you manage a standard wordpress infrastructure ,where you have an installation of a wordpress blog and you have two layers separated , the database layer (in my case mysql) on the database server , and other layer for the presentation (web server) that stores the images uploaded , the themes , and the scripts , you should be aware of the backup process on these two separate layers.

Backup Database file on the database server

There is an easy way and the one i recommend , and is by using the wp-db-backup plugin that you can find here , this plugin actually make a scheduled backup of your wordpress database , you chose monthy , weekly or dayly , also you can chose the backup to be sended by mail witch is very helpful.

The problem with this configuration is that you only have the backup of the database , and the database is not everything concerning wordpress contents, you should also backup the pictures of your blogs , the themes , the uploaded files and adittional scripts.

There is already a workaround to backup ALL your content on the cloud using Amazon S3 services on site http://www.wordpressbackup.org/ which is good but you have to pay for the S3 services processing.

Combine wp-dbbackup plugin + Dropbox cloud services + Windows Task Scheduler

A free alternative i propose is by using the wp-dbbackup plugin along with the DropBox API.

For that i created a c# application(that you can download below) that do the follwing:

1.Zip the contents of the wordpress Images (optionally i can especify the scritps folder but my interest relies only on the images folder for now).

2.Using DropBox API with the SharpBox libraries and a DeveloperKey (that you can obtain here ) and upload the zipped file to my free DropBox account.

3.Create a Task on the Task scheduler of Windows to execute the program every week.

You should note that i did not mentioned wp-dbplugin here , well, that is because the wp-dbplugin just works nice , and i will “improve” this solution by adding the C# program that backups the images folder of the wordpress webserver content.

This solution is free and is automated so you have an easy way to backup your wordpress solution easily.

Limitations

Because DropBox is free it gives you 2gb of free space , making a weekly backup of your wordpress images folder can fill that space very quickly . You should check weekly your DropBox backups and delete old backups to prevent getting out of space.

You can download the source code below:

WpZipToDropBox

One issue related when browsing a cube using Performance Point is that when you drag the Month dimension the months are sorted alphabetically and not by month.

One resolution to this problem is via MDX on PerformancePoint :

The problem is that PerformancePoint cant distinguish that a month is really a month.A possible solution is modify the MDX related to the Analytic Grid.

PerformancePoint Generates this MDX by default:

SELECT
{ [Calendary].[Year].[Year].ALLMEMBERS } * { [Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].ALLMEMBERS }
ON COLUMNS,

NON EMPTY { [Country].[Country].[Country].ALLMEMBERS } * { [Business Unit].[Business Unit].[Business Unit].ALLMEMBERS }
ON ROWS

FROM [Cube]

WHERE ( [Measures].[Vl End Balance] )

CELL PROPERTIES VALUE, FORMATTED_VALUE, CELL_ORDINAL, FONT_FLAGS, FORE_COLOR, BACK_COLOR

Solution:

You have to tell Perfomance Point the order of the Months manually:

SELECT
{ [Calendary].[Year].[Year].ALLMEMBERS }

replace with:

{ [Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[January],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[February],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[March],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[April],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[May],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[June],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[July],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[August],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[September],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[October],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[November],[Calendary].[Month Name].[Month Name].[December] }

As you note I have to tell Performance Point directly the order of the months.

the final code looks like this:

When writing a MDX expression inside a role , i`ve encountered a problem when checking the syntax. When you click on the check syntax button , an error window appears saying it cannot find the assembly msmgdsrv .

A workaround to this problem is to edit the Ssms.exe.config file in Analysis Services .

You can find this file on the path

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Binn\VSShell\Common7\IDE

Make sure you edit this file as an Administrator.

Inside the file look for the line

<codeBase version=”9.0.0.0″ href=”msmgdsrv.dll”/>

and change the href value with the absolute path of the msmgdsrv.dll file , typically it can be found at

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\10\msmgdsrv.dll

the file should look like this:

<configuration>
<runtime>
<assemblyBinding xmlns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1″>
<probing privatePath=”PublicAssemblies;PrivateAssemblies”/>
<dependentAssembly>
<assemblyIdentity name=”msmgdsrv” publicKeyToken=”89845dcd8080cc91″ />
<codeBase version=”9.0.0.0″ href=”C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Analysis Services\AS OLEDB\10\msmgdsrv.dll”/>
</dependentAssembly>
</assemblyBinding>
<legacyUnhandledExceptionPolicy enabled=”1″/>
<newComVTableLayout enabled=”true” />
<generatePublisherEvidence enabled=”false”/>
</runtime>
</configuration>

Try checking the MDX syntax , it should be successful.

If you are trying to establish an Analysis Services – Performance Point connection via SharePoint using Kerberos authentication through the Dashboard Designer, then it should be enough to establish the Kerberos delegation configuration mentioned here, but if you are in my situation when the connection can’t get established even after that configuration was made, then you should check that the Claims to Windows Token Service service is enabled. If it is disabled by default then you have to edit the Windows Identity c2wtshost.exe.config file located at C:\Program Files\Windows Identity Foundation\3.5 adding the following tag.

<add value=”WSS_WPG” />

between the allowCallers tag :

<configuration>

<windowsTokenService>

<allowedCallers>

<clear/>

<add value=”WSS_WPG” />

</allowedCallers>

</windowsTokenService>

</configuration>

Then proceed activating the CWTS service on the Windows service console (cmd -> services.msc->Claims to Windows Token Service (enable))

Try again connecting to the dashboard designer:

Despite that this is a workaround, sometimes the dashboard disconnects, i don’t know why this happening but maybe is because I’m working on a test server and things are messed up.
